“Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!”
-Admiral David Farragut during the Battle of Mobile Bay
Telecommunications firms — with the blessing and support of their regulatory overseers — are rapidly preparing to roll out the next generation of mobile network technology known as 5G in test markets later this year, and in the first commercial applications in 2020.
The driving force of this new technology revolves around a concept known as the Internet of Things (IoT) where embeddable microchips enable any consumer device with an on-and-off switch – not just cell phones and computers – to communicate wirelessly over an interconnected network. Deployment of 5G will require installation of an unknown number of new antenna towers and wireless transmitters in virtually every neighborhood, including rural communities.
While scientific studies have shown that prolonged exposure to electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) from the current generation of cell phones can adversely affect the brain and increase the risk of tumors, industry leaders in the U.S. have been given the go-ahead to push 5G onto the marketplace. Such an attitude seems unconscionable, especially given that the ultra-high radio frequency spectrum (24 gigahertz and above) needed by 5G has never been used before, and that there have not been any tests or studies to demonstrate that it’s safe to use on the human population (as a point of reference, you are probably familiar with the 2.4 and 5.8 gigahertz bands used by cordless phones).
Former FCC chairman Tom Wheeler played a key role in promoting 5G
With 5G, we have yet another case where an industry executive and lobbyist becomes the head cheerleader for that same industry when he is appointed to serve as its chief regulator. Prior to being appointed Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Nov 4, 2013, Tom Wheeler was involved with new telecommunications networks and services as a policy expert, an advocate, and a businessman for over 30 years. Wheeler resigned as chairman of the FCC on Jan 20, 2017.
On Sep 3, 2016, NaturalHealth365 posted Jonathan Landsman’s article entitled, “Action alert: 5G cellular technology will blanket planetary life with ultra-high microwave frequencies that contained the following passage:
With obvious relish, Wheeler spoke of “turning innovators loose” to develop and adapt 5G and related networks. And, as for those ‘annoying regulators’ – who could presumably stand between us and harm from electromagnetic radiation – Wheeler rejects the idea that these cautious people should be allowed to define our future.
5G health risks and concerns
Below are excerpts from articles that describe the many risks posed by 5G technology.
EMFs, Risks, Not Enough to Stop 5G Network, Citizens for Health, Mar 4, 2017
There is consistently mounting evidence of the health risks of EMFs for humans and their pets, as well as nature. There is considerable data showing that electrical pollution is one of the main factors in the loss of bees. Without bees, most of our foods cannot be raised because they rely on bees for pollination and seeds for future generations of food. Humans have shown a wide variety of problems from exposure to ever-increasing levels of frequencies in the microwave region of the energy spectrum, which is why safety standards for short exposure to microwave ovens became the basis for safety claims. These include headaches, dizziness, confusion, sleep problems, heart problems (mostly palpitations), and pain or numbness in limbs. Animals show similar symptoms.
There is also a fundamental lack of justification for 5G. The use of wireless technology to transfer information uses far more energy than the alternatives, fiber optics and cables. These other technologies require more labor in installation (creating more employment opportunities) and provide superior performance without many of the downsides of wireless.
Is 5G technology dangerous? Early data shows a slight increase of tumors in male rats exposed to cellphone radiation, by Jim Puzzanghera | Los Angeles Times, Aug 8, 2016
“…the launch of super-fast 5G technology over the next several years will dramatically increase the number of transmitters sending signals to cellphones and a host of new Internet-enabled devices, including smart appliances and autonomous vehicles. And the move to the new technology comes after unsettling findings from a long-awaited federal government study of the cancer risk from cellphone use.”
“National Toxicology Program researchers released preliminary data in May that showed small increases in tumors in male rats exposed to cellphone radiation…”
“The rats were exposed to nine hours of radiation daily, in 10-minutes-on, 10-minutes-off intervals, over their whole bodies for two years. The researchers found increased incidences of rare brain and heart tumors starting at about the federally allowable level of cellphone radiation for brain exposure, with greater incidences at about two and four times those levels.”

In early March, the passage of the Mobile Now Act suggests that the United States government, including both the Senate and Federal Communications Commission, plans to expand 5G mobile broadband throughout the country. While many parties are focused on the potential advantages that 5G speed will provide for technology and communications, there are many experts who already beginning to predict that the implementation of 5G technology throughout the country will pose greater health risks than wireless technology already does.
Studies: Health Effects of Electromagnetic Radiation & Microwaves, posted by Stop Smart Meters UK
There are a huge number of scientific studies – in excess of 6,000 at the last count – which have shown that RF radiation and microwaves are harmful to humans, animals and plants.

When it comes to EMF issues, one of the most frequently heard phrases is “There is no evidence to support EMFs having health effects” or simply “There is no conclusive evidence”. This is completely wrong; there is an enormous body of evidence out there, but public and even academic awareness seems to be very poor.

The government’s own NTP (National Toxicology Program) cancer study inconveniently concluded that yes — cellular radiation DOES increase cancer. Now, the industy-lobbyist-turned-government-czar gave an uber-creepy speech invoking technocracy’s endgame with a stomach-churning sense of urgency that you can see at the Parent’s For Safe Technology website.
